Answers to the questions we hear most from retail, food service, and industrial buyers evaluating a private label cheese program. Don’t see your question here? Read our guide on what to look for in a private label cheese manufacturer, or request information directly.

General

A private label cheese manufacturer produces cheese to a retailer’s, distributor’s, or foodservice operator’s own brand and specifications, rather than under a national brand name. Davidson Hubeny Brands has manufactured private label specialty cheese in Wisconsin since 1987, across retail, food service, and industrial/commissary channels.
Consistency of spec batch to batch, aging and formulation breadth, food safety certifications, and a manufacturer who treats your program as a partnership rather than a one-off order. Read our full guide: What to Look for in a Private Label Cheese Manufacturer.
Most programs start with a spec conversation — variety, format, packaging, and volume — followed by samples, artwork and label approval, and a first production run. From there we scale with you. Formats range from 4 oz retail cups to 20 lb industrial blocks across our Feta, Blue & Gorgonzola, Cheddars & Jacks, Goat Cheese, Italian, and Cheese Curd lines.
MOQs vary by format and packaging. Retail cups typically require a single pallet minimum for initial runs, while food service and industrial formats have lower per-unit MOQs. Request a quote for specifics on your program.
Our facilities are SQF-certified. Kosher availability varies by production run — confirm your certification requirements when requesting a quote so we can match you to the right source.

Yes. We work with commissary operators and meal kit manufacturers who need consistent, spec-compliant cheese in ingredient formats.
